Big Boy Bed!

Yesterday I put Ethan down for his nap, and a few minutes later there was screaming! Nate went in to check it out, and called for me to come see. Ethan was sitting on top of his dresser! He must have put his foot on the dresser and used the crib rail to pull himself up and over! I'm glad he stayed put up there till we came and got him. We pulled the crib to the middle of the room, and he finished his nap. That afternoon we went to Babies R Us and bought a new mattress for his toddler bed! Sunday night we took down the crib, and took the toddler bed out of the attic, and set it up! The first night he howled for 7 minutes, and was banging on the door crying mamma and dadda then he went to sleep. The next night he went right to sleep. Naps are a bit hard, his first day he got into the top dresser drawer, and pulled out all his wipes and covered himself with vasoline. Sigh.

Watching our grass grow

We are having the greatest weather for growing grass! What a blessing to get some nice gentle showers everyday and not have to worry about the well from running the sprinkler all the time.

Yum...Goat Cheese!

Ethan loves goat cheese! If I give him just some wheat thins, he takes one and makes a dipping motion with it to tell me he wants the cheese to dip it in. Tonight he discovered he could get a lot more cheese by using his fingers instead.

Almost done

What a day! I biked 14 miles and jogged 2.8 with Ethan in the stroller. Then I was rearended taking Ethan to meet our friends, the Kings, who took Ethan with their son to the Aquarium for the day so Nate and I could finish our yard. Luckily we were OK. Once I arrived home, Nate and I furiously worked taking rocks out of our garden area, then Ed came to spread the topsoil at 2. Then Nate spread fertilizer and grass seed, while I raked it in behind him. Next we spread 6 bales of straw over everything-while a thunder storm was coming in! We finished just in time, and we got a nice soft rain on our soon-to-be lawn.

The big dig continues...

Nate and I have been spending all our free time picking up rocks and roots from the new backyard. Ethan likes to help too! Ethan had fun on the bulldozer and climbing up the piles of topsoil we had brought in.

Our Big Dig

This week we are getting a backyard! This is an anniversary and birthday present for Nate and Ethan all rolled into one. Here are a few before pictures. Ed the excavator did a great job-we never knew when he was coming though-he'd just show up and go to work! Ethan thought it was really cool to have two "beep beeps" in the backyard-he loved looking out his window at bedtime and when he woke up to see the excavator and the bulldozer.
